Terms
Terms and conditions of use.
Otto is informational, not medical. Read this before using the app — especially sections 5 and 6.

1. Who is offering
These terms are between Otto Health SRL ("Otto", "we") and the user of the otto-health.com app or website ("you"). Using the service implies acceptance of these terms.
2. What Otto is
Otto is a mobile app (iOS, Android) that reads the health data you already collect via Apple Health or Health Connect, brings it together, and looks for scientifically documented patterns across it. It is not a medical device, not a medical service, not a substitute for consultation with a healthcare professional.
3. Account and access
You must create an account to use the app. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and not letting others use your account. Some features (Plus tier) require a paid subscription.
4. Subscription, payment, withdrawal
Subscriptions are billed through App Store / Google Play. Cancel from your store account settings. Under EU Directive 2011/83 on consumer rights you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from your first purchase. Once a digital service has been activated with your express consent and you have acknowledged that you lose the right of withdrawal once you start using it, the right is extinguished — that acknowledgement is requested explicitly at first payment.
5. NOT medical advice — important disclaimer
Otto is an informational app. The insights, reports, calorie targets, recommendations and any other content generated by Otto are intended for education and self-awareness. They are not medical diagnosis, prescription, treatment plan, or individualised professional advice.
Before making decisions that affect your health — especially around diet, calorie restriction, intense exercise, or monitoring of a chronic condition (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, thyroid disorders, etc.) — consult a qualified healthcare professional (doctor, registered dietitian, nutritionist).
Otto is NOT for:
- people with active or recovering eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia, binge-eating disorder);
- minors (under 18);
- pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, without medical supervision;
- people on a medical regimen that imposes specific dietary restrictions, without their treating doctor's consent.
If you fall into any of these categories, please do not use Otto.
6. Risk and assumption of responsibility
Use of Otto is at your own risk. You decide what you eat, how much, how much you move, and how you interpret the data we show you. Otto suggests calorie and macro targets based on standard formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor for BMR, activity multipliers for TDEE), but those are statistical approximations — they don't fit everyone perfectly.
Undereating, overeating, dehydration, excessive exercise or any other adverse effect on your health resulting from use of the app is your responsibility. Otto cannot be held liable for your dietary or lifestyle decisions, or their consequences.
If you notice signs of excessive fatigue, dizziness, rapid weight change, menstrual disturbances, anxiety around food, or other warning signs, stop using the app and consult a doctor.
7. Data accuracy
Health data comes from your device sensors (watch, phone, scale, blood-pressure cuff). Their accuracy varies with hardware, calibration and use — Otto does not guarantee the accuracy of these measurements.
Nutritional data comes from public databases (Open Food Facts, USDA, FatSecret) and OCR on labels. They can contain errors. Barcode lookup may not always identify the correct variant. Verify values if you make important decisions on them.
8. Acceptable use
You may not: (a) use Otto to give medical advice to others; (b) resell access; (c) reverse engineer, scrape or automatically extract other users' data; (d) upload illegal content or content that infringes intellectual property rights.
9. Intellectual property
The Otto name, logo, app and site design, source code, copy and illustrations are property of Otto Health SRL. Your data (entries, photos, food journal) is yours — you grant only a limited licence to operate the service.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Otto's liability for any damages (direct, indirect, incidental or consequential) arising from use of the app is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months for subscription, or EUR 50, whichever is lower. This limitation does not apply where consumer law mandates otherwise (personal injury due to negligence, fraud, infringement of consumer rights).
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time from settings — real deletion takes place within 30 days. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with prior notice where possible.
12. Changes to terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the app after that date constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
13. Governing law, jurisdiction, disputes
These terms are governed by Romanian law. We attempt amicable resolution first. Failing that, the competent courts are those in Romania. Consumers have the right to use the EU online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
